These Yogurt Dog Treats are a healthy and refreshing snack made with fresh strawberries, blueberries, and plain Greek yogurt. Perfect for keeping your furry friend cool and satisfied, these treats combine natural fruit sweetness with creamy yogurt, all frozen to a perfect icy consistency using silicone molds. Easy to prepare and customizable with different fruits, they are an excellent wholesome homemade alternative to store-bought dog snacks.

  • Total Time: 4 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: 12-15 treats depending on mold size

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 8 medium fresh strawberries (about 300 grams), tops removed and white centers cut out
  • ¾ cup small fresh blueberries (about 115 grams)

Other

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (about 240 grams)
  • Bone or paw shaped silicone freezer-proof molds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberries: Begin by washing and drying the strawberries thoroughly. Remove the tops and carefully cut out the white center from each strawberry to prepare them for the treat base.
  2. Fill the Molds: Place 3 to 5 pieces of diced strawberries into the bottom of each silicone mold, followed by 3 to 4 small blueberries, arranging the fruit evenly as the foundation for the treats.
  3. Pour the Yogurt: Gently fill each mold with plain Greek yogurt, covering the fruits completely while ensuring not to overflow.
  4. Remove Air Bubbles: Tap or gently jiggle the molds on the counter to eliminate any trapped air bubbles inside the yogurt mixture, helping to create solid, uniform frozen treats.
  5. Clean Up the Molds: Use an offset spatula or spoon to scrape away any excess yogurt from the edges of the molds to ensure a neat finish and easier removal later.
  6. Freeze the Treats: Place the populated molds into the freezer and allow them to freeze solid for approximately 4 hours or until completely firm.
  7. Release and Store: When frozen, remove the treats from the molds by running the bottom of the mold briefly under warm water to loosen them. Store the frozen treats in an airtight container in the freezer until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Wash and dry fruits thoroughly to prevent excess moisture that may dilute the yogurt consistency.
  • Try experimenting with other dog-safe fruits like raspberries or bananas to create different flavor varieties for your pet.
  • Ensure to use plain Greek yogurt without added sugars or artificial sweeteners, as some ingredients can be harmful to dogs.
