Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 cups seedless watermelon, cut into chunks
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1 tbsp plain Greek yogurt (optional)
Optional Add-ins
- A few fresh mint leaves
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- A few drops of salmon oil
Instructions
- Prepare Watermelon Puree: Puree the watermelon chunks in a blender until smooth. If the puree is too watery, strain it to remove excess liquid to ensure a thicker consistency suitable for freezing.
- Make Blueberry Mixture: Rinse the blender to clean it, then blend the blueberries along with the yogurt if you choose to include it. Blend until the mixture is thick to create the swirl effect.
- Fill Molds: Pour the watermelon puree into silicone molds or ice cube trays, filling each about three-quarters full to leave room for the blueberry swirl.
- Add Blueberry Swirl: Spoon a teaspoon of the blueberry blend into each mold on top of the watermelon puree. Gently swirl the blueberry mixture through the watermelon with a toothpick or skewer to create a marbled effect.
- Freeze Treats: Place the molds in the freezer and let them freeze solid for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to fully set the treats.
- Store and Serve: Once frozen, remove the treats from the molds by running warm water over the outside if needed to ease removal. Store them in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. Serve slightly softened for easier chewing, especially for puppies or senior dogs.
Notes
- Silicone molds are recommended for easy removal of the frozen treats.
- Serve the treats slightly softened by allowing them to thaw briefly for easier chewing by puppies or older dogs.
- If treats stick in the molds, run warm water over the outside of the molds briefly to loosen them.
- Adjust the mixture’s texture by adding banana or yogurt if the puree is too runny for easier freezing and serving.
