This Taco Pie combines the convenience of refrigerated crescent rolls with savory ground beef, melty cheese, and fresh toppings to create a flavorful and easy-to-make comfort meal perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.

  • Total Time: 36 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 package of refrigerated crescent rolls

Filling

  • 1 pound of ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 packet of taco seasoning (optional)
  • 1 cup of shredded cheese

Toppings

  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup red taco sauce
  • ½ cup shredded lettuce
  • Fresh cut tomatoes (amount based on preference)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the pie crust.
  2. Prepare the pie dish: Spray a pie dish with non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  3. Shape the crust: Remove the crescent rolls from the package and separate the triangles. Arrange them along the inside of the pie dish and press the dough evenly to form a continuous crust resembling a traditional pie crust.
  4. Bake the crust: Bake the dough at 375°F for about 11 minutes or until the pie bottom is golden brown, following package instructions.
  5. Cook the meat: While the crust is baking, cook ground beef over medium heat until fully browned. Drain any excess oil. Optionally, stir in taco seasoning for added flavor.
  6. Assemble the pie: Remove the baked crust from the oven and fill with the cooked ground beef. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly on top.
  7. Melt cheese: Return the pie to the oven for another 10 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted.
  8. Prepare sour cream topping: Mix the sour cream and red taco sauce in a small bowl until well combined.
  9. Slice tomatoes: Cut fresh tomatoes into small slices according to your preference.
  10. Top the pie: Remove the pie from the oven, spread the sour cream and taco sauce mixture evenly over the melted cheese layer.
  11. Add fresh toppings: Sprinkle shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes evenly over the sour cream layer.
  12. Serve: Cut the taco pie into slices using a knife and serve with a spatula. Enjoy your delicious taco pie!

Notes

  • Using ground turkey instead of beef can reduce fat content.
  • You can add beans or corn to the meat filling for extra texture and flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of taco seasoning or omit it based on dietary preferences.
  • For a spicier version, add jalapeños or hot sauce to the meat or sour cream mixture.
  • Leftover taco pie can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven for best texture.
