Ingredients
Beans and Seasonings
- 2 (15 ounce) cans Black Beans, do not drain
- 2 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 tablespoon Red Wine Vinegar
- ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
- ½ teaspoon Dried Oregano
- ¼ teaspoon Onion Powder
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
- ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper
- ⅛ teaspoon Cumin
Garnish
- Chopped Parsley for garnish – optional
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Add the black beans with their liquid (do not drain) to a medium saucepan along with olive oil, red wine vinegar, garlic powder, dried oregano, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cumin. Stir everything well to combine the flavors.
- Simmer the Beans: Cover the saucepan and place it over medium heat. Bring the black beans to a simmer, ensuring heat is moderate and even for gradual cooking.
- Cook on Low Heat: Once simmering, reduce the heat to medium-low. Let the beans cook uncovered for 20 minutes so flavors meld together nicely. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking or burning on the bottom of the pan as the mixture thickens.
- Final Touch and Serve: After cooking, keep the beans at a gentle simmer until ready to serve. Spoon them over white rice and garnish with chopped parsley if desired for a fresh, vibrant finish.
Notes
- Do not drain the canned beans; the liquid helps create a flavorful base.
- Stir the beans occasionally during cooking to avoid sticking or burning.
- Adjust salt and spices to taste if preferred.
- Serve with white rice for a traditional Cuban-style meal.
- Parsley garnish adds fresh color and flavor but is optional.
