This Peach Bread recipe features a moist, flavorful quick bread packed with juicy diced peaches and warm cinnamon. Baked to perfection and topped with a sweet vanilla glaze, it makes a delightful breakfast, snack, or dessert. The bread is tender and slightly sweet with a crunchy sugar topping option and the glaze adds a creamy, spiced finish.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes
  • Yield: 1 loaf (about 10-12 slices)

Ingredients

Peach Bread

  • 2 cups (240 g) all purpose flour
  • 2½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup (120 ml) melted butter or oil
  • ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup (50 g) light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons (10 ml) vanilla extract
  • ½ cup (120 ml) milk or buttermilk, room temperature
  • 2 cups (280 g) diced peaches
  • 2 tablespoons (25 g) sugar for topping, optional

Vanilla Glaze

  • 1½ cups (180 g) powdered sugar
  • 2 – 3 tablespoons (30 – 45 ml) heavy cream, room temperature
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (170°C). Line a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides for easy removal.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate large mixing bowl, whisk the melted butter (or oil), granulated sugar, light brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk (or buttermilk) together until fully blended.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually whisk the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix to maintain a tender crumb.
  5. Add Peaches: Gently fold in the diced peaches so they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Transfer Batter and Add Topping: Spread the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pan. If desired, sprinkle the 2 tablespoons of sugar evenly over the top to create a crunchy sugar topping.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but no raw batter.
  8. Cool Bread: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes. Use the parchment paper overhang to lift the bread out of the pan and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Prepare Vanilla Glaze: While the bread cools, whisk together the powdered sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon in a small bowl until smooth and desired consistency is reached.
  10. Glaze and Serve: Drizzle the vanilla glaze over the completely cooled peach bread. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftover slices in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, refrigerate for an additional 2 to 3 days.
  • You can top the peach bread with a crumble topping for added texture and flavor.
  • Use buttermilk instead of regular milk for a slightly tangier flavor and more tender crumb.
  • Ensure peaches are diced evenly for consistent distribution in the bread.
