Ingredients
Oreo Balls
- 1 lb 2.12 oz Family Size package Oreo Cookies
- 8 ounce block cream cheese, softened to room temperature
Coatings and Decoration
- 12 ounce bag red candy melts
- 12 ounce bag blue candy melts
- ⅓ cup Ghirardelli white melting wafers
- White star confetti sprinkles for topping
Instructions
- Prepare Baking Trays: Line two baking trays with parchment paper and set aside to keep the oreo balls from sticking during assembly and coating.
- Make Oreo Crumbs: Place Oreo cookies into a food processor or high-speed blender and pulse until finely ground into crumbs.
- Mix Oreo and Cream Cheese: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with a hand mixer on high speed until smooth and creamy. Add the Oreo crumbs and mix on medium speed until thoroughly combined.
- Form Balls: Using a 1.5-inch cookie scoop, portion out even amounts of the mixture. Roll each scoop between palms to form smooth balls and arrange them evenly on the prepared baking trays.
- Chill Oreo Balls: Place the trays of rolled balls into the refrigerator and chill for 2 hours. As a faster option, freeze them for 15-20 minutes to firm up.
- Coat with Blue Candy Melts: Remove one tray from the refrigerator. Melt the blue candy melts in a double boiler over low heat or in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second increments, stirring frequently until smooth. Dip each ball completely using a fork, tap off excess coating, then place back onto the baking tray. Immediately sprinkle with white star confetti. Refrigerate to set the coating.
- Coat with Red Candy Melts: Remove the second tray. Similarly, melt the red candy melts and dip each ball fully. Place them on the tray to set.
- Drizzle White Chocolate: Melt the white melting wafers in a microwave in 30-second increments, massaging the piping bag to ensure even melting. Snip the tip off and drizzle fine white lines over the red coated balls. Refrigerate for 10 minutes to let the drizzle set.
- Serve and Store: Keep the finished Oreo balls refrigerated until ready to serve. Enjoy these festive, creamy, and colorful treats!
Notes
- For quicker chilling, freeze the Oreo balls for 15-20 minutes instead of refrigerating for 2 hours.
- If candy melts seize or thicken, add a teaspoon of vegetable oil and stir to smooth.
- Use a gentle tap on the fork when dipping to avoid breaking or de-coating the balls.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- You can customize sprinkles or drizzle colors to suit different holidays or themes.
