Ingredients
Fudge Base
- 2/3 cup heavy cream
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter
Mix-ins
- 7 oz marshmallow cream
- 2 cups white chocolate chips
Flavoring & Coloring
- 3 teaspoons orange extract
- Up to 10 drops orange food coloring (based on preference)
Instructions
- Prepare the pan: Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper, ensuring the paper covers all sides for easy removal of the fudge later.
- Combine base ingredients: In a saucepan, combine the unsalted butter, 2/3 cup heavy cream, and granulated sugar. Stir the mixture over medium heat until the butter fully melts and the ingredients are well blended.
- Cook to softball stage: Continue cooking the mixture until it reaches 235°F (softball stage). Once reached, maintain stirring for 3 minutes to ensure proper texture development.
- Add marshmallow cream and chocolate: Remove the saucepan from heat. Quickly stir in the marshmallow cream and white chocolate chips until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
- Separate and flavor mixtures: Transfer about 1 cup of the mixture into a separate bowl and set aside. To the remaining mixture in the pan, add the orange extract and up to 10 drops of orange food coloring. Mix thoroughly until the color and flavor are well incorporated.
- Create fudge layers: Pour the orange-flavored mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
- Swirl and marble: Drop dollops of the reserved plain mixture over the orange mixture. Using a butter knife, swirl the two mixtures together gently to create an attractive marble effect.
- Chill to set: Place the pan in the refrigerator for about 2 hours, allowing the fudge to set properly and firm up.
- Cut and serve: Once set, cut the fudge into squares and enjoy the delightful blend of creamy, citrusy flavors and smooth texture.
