A rich and energizing Mocha Banana Smoothie combining the flavors of coffee, chocolate, and banana for a delicious and nutritious start to your day or an afternoon pick-me-up.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes (excluding freezing time)
  • Yield: 1 serving

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 small banana, frozen
  • 1 Tablespoon instant coffee
  • 1/4 cup water, warm
  • 1/2 Tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1/4 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 Tablespoon cocoa powder or 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1/2 cup almond milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Banana: Peel, chop, and freeze the small banana ahead of time to ensure the smoothie has a creamy and chilled texture.
  2. Mix Instant Coffee and Oats: Dissolve 1 tablespoon of instant coffee in 1/4 cup of warm water, then add 1/4 cup of old fashioned oats, stir well, and let sit for a minute to allow the oats to soften and coffee to infuse.
  3. Blend Ingredients: In a blender, combine the frozen banana pieces, the coffee and oat mixture, 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder or a scoop of chocolate protein powder, 1 cup of ice, and 1/2 cup of almond milk. Add 1/2 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup if you prefer it sweeter.
  4. Blend Until Smooth: Blend all the ingredients for about one minute or until completely smooth. If the smoothie is too thick, add more almond milk gradually to reach your desired consistency.
  5. Serve: Pour the smoothie into a glass and enjoy immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For a stronger coffee flavor, increase the instant coffee slightly.
  • Use maple syrup as a vegan alternative to honey.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey/maple syrup to taste.
  • You can substitute almond milk with any other plant-based or dairy milk.
  • Old fashioned oats help to thicken the smoothie and add fiber, but can be omitted if preferred.
