This Loaded Cheeseburger recipe combines juicy, seasoned ground chuck patties mixed with mozzarella cheese and A1 steak sauce, grilled to perfection and served with your favorite classic burger toppings. It’s a delicious, hearty meal perfect for a casual cookout or family dinner.

  • Total Time: 22 minutes
  • Yield: 4 burgers

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.3 – 1.5 lbs ground chuck
  • 1 Tbsp McCormick Grill Mates “Montreal Steak Seasoning”
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 Tbsp A1 Steak Sauce

Burger Assembly Ingredients

  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sautéed onions & mushrooms
  • Cheese slices (optional additional cheese)
  • Pickles
  • Ketchup
  • Mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Grill: Heat your grill to medium/high to ensure a perfect sear on the burgers and thorough cooking.
  2. Prepare the Burger Patties: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chuck with 1 tablespoon of Montreal Steak Seasoning, 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, and 2 tablespoons of A1 steak sauce. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form each into a disk about 1/3″ thick. Create a thumb indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
  3. Grill the Patties: Place the patties on the preheated grill. Grill for about 6 minutes on each side for medium-well doneness. Avoid pressing down on the patties to keep them juicy. Optionally, rotate the patties halfway through each side to create a criss-cross grill mark pattern. During the last minute of grilling, top each patty with cheese to melt.
  4. Rest the Patties: After grilling, remove the burgers from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a moist and flavorful burger.
  5. Assemble the Burgers: Following a recommended layering order, start with the bottom bun spread with your preferred dressing or mayonnaise, add lettuce leaves, then sliced onions and tomatoes. Place the burger patty topped with melted cheese next, followed by pickles and any additional condiments like ketchup. Finish with the top bun spread with dressing.

Notes

  • Do not press down on the burger patties while grilling to prevent losing juices and drying out the meat.
  • The thumb indentation on each patty helps keep the burger flat and prevents it from puffing up in the center.
  • Resting the cooked patties before assembling ensures the juices stay inside the burger.
  • You can customize the toppings and condiments to your liking for a personalized burger experience.
  • The recipe yields four burgers, perfect for a small family or group.
