Ingredients
Stuffing Mixture
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 cup fresh cranberries
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried sage
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup chicken broth
For Baking
- Olive oil, for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the stuffing balls evenly.
- Prepare the Stuffing: In a large bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, fresh cranberries, finely chopped onion, celery, garlic, dried sage, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix well to distribute the flavors evenly.
- Add the Turkey: Incorporate the ground turkey, eggs, and chicken broth into the stuffing mixture. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined and moistened.
- Form the Balls: Using slightly wet hands to prevent sticking, take portions of the mixture and roll them into balls about 1 to 1½ inches in diameter, ensuring uniform size for even cooking.
- Arrange on a Baking Sheet: Place the formed stuffing balls on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them evenly to allow heat circulation and prevent sticking. Drizzle a little olive oil over the balls for browning.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the balls turn golden brown and are cooked through. You can check doneness by ensuring the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the stuffing balls to cool for a few minutes. Serve warm as an appetizer or side dish, optionally paired with your favorite sauce or gravy.
Notes
- Customization: Feel free to customize by adding other herbs like rosemary, or vegetables such as bell peppers or mushrooms to suit your taste preferences.
- Storage: Store leftover stuffing balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
- Reheating: Reheat stuffing balls in an oven preheated to 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes until warmed through to retain their texture.
- Cooking Tips: Chop all vegetables uniformly to ensure even cooking. Wetting your hands before forming balls helps keep the mixture from sticking.
- Serving Suggestions: Serve warm with gravy, cranberry sauce, or a mustard dip for added flavor and moisture.
