- 2 tbsp Dutch cocoa powder or unsweetened cocoa powder
- 10 oz chocolate chips or sugar free chocolate chips
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp sweetener of choice
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract (optional)
Crust (Optional)
- Use your favorite store-bought or homemade pie crust, or omit for a crustless version
Instructions
- Prepare the Crust (Optional): If using a pie crust, either prepare your favorite homemade or store-bought crust as per its instructions. Alternatively, you may choose to serve this pie crustless in ramekins.
- Melt the Chocolate: Carefully melt the chocolate chips using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts, stirring frequently to avoid burning, until smooth and fully melted.
- Combine Ingredients: Place the mashed avocado, melted chocolate, cocoa powder, salt, sweetener, and vanilla extract (if using) into a blender or food processor.
- Blend Until Smooth: Blend all ingredients on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy with no lumps remaining.
- Assemble the Pie: Pour the chocolate avocado filling evenly over the prepared crust or directly into serving ramekins if crustless.
- Chill to Set: Refrigerate the pie for several hours, ideally 3-4 hours or until firm and set.
- Serve and Store: Serve chilled. Cover and store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to four days.
Notes
- Choose ripe avocados for the best creamy texture.
- You can use sugar-free or regular chocolate chips depending on dietary preference.
- For a gluten-free dessert, omit the crust or use a gluten-free crust alternative.
- Add a dash of espresso powder to enhance the chocolate flavor if desired.
- This pie is best enjoyed within 4 days for optimal freshness.
