Ingredients
Frosting Ingredients
- 2 soft, ripe avocados
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 6-8 tbsp pure maple syrup or sweetener of choice
- 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 2 oz chocolate chips (optional for richer flavor)
Instructions
- Prepare Avocados: Use soft, ripe avocados and discard the peels and pits completely to ensure a smooth frosting base.
- Melt Chocolate Chips (Optional): Carefully melt the chocolate chips using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts, stirring frequently to avoid burning, if you want a richer flavor in your frosting.
- Combine Ingredients: Place the avocados, cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract, salt, and melted chocolate chips (if using) into a food processor or blender.
- Blend Until Smooth: Process all the ingredients together until the mixture is completely smooth, creamy, and well combined, scraping down the sides as needed.
- Use or Store: Use the frosting immediately for the best taste and texture. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days due to the lack of preservatives.
Notes
- Make sure avocados are ripe and soft for the creamiest texture.
- The frosting is best used fresh since it contains no preservatives.
- Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of maple syrup to your preference.
- The frosting should be refrigerated if not used immediately, and consumed within three days.
- You can substitute maple syrup with honey or agave syrup if preferred.
- Optional melted chocolate chips add richness but can be omitted for a lighter version.
