Homemade Chicken Bone Broth Gummy Treats for Dogs are a simple, healthy, and nutritious snack packed with collagen and amino acids. Using low-sodium chicken bone broth and gelatin, these treats can be customized with optional ingredients like parsley, turmeric, coconut oil, and shredded chicken to support your dog’s joint health and coat condition. Perfect for dog owners looking for a natural, tasty treat alternative.

  • Total Time: 3 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 20 small gummy treats

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken bone broth (homemade or high-quality store-bought)
  • 2½ tablespoons unflavored gelatin powder (grass-fed if available)
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder (optional)

Optional Add-Ins

  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon shredded cooked chicken
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Warm the Bone Broth: Pour the bone broth into a small saucepan and warm it over low to medium heat until it is just slightly steaming. Do not allow it to boil as excessive heat may degrade the beneficial nutrients. If using homemade broth, skim off any solidified fat on top before warming.
  2. Bloom the Gelatin: Pour the warm broth into a mixing bowl or keep it in the saucepan off the heat. Sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the surface of the warm liquid and let it sit undisturbed for 3–5 minutes to allow the gelatin to absorb liquid and thicken, ensuring lump-free gummies.
  3. Dissolve the Gelatin and Add Nutrients: Place the saucepan back on low heat and gently stir until the gelatin is fully dissolved. Add optional ingredients such as turmeric powder, coconut oil, parsley, or shredded cooked chicken at this stage and stir well until evenly combined and the mixture looks golden and glossy.
  4. Pour into Molds: Carefully pour the gelatin mixture into silicone molds shaped like paws, bones, or hearts. If molds are unavailable, pour into a shallow glass dish lined with parchment paper. Tap molds gently on the counter to remove air bubbles and smooth the surface.
  5. Chill Until Firm: Place the molds or dish in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2–3 hours until completely firm. Once set, pop the gummies out of the molds or cut the set mixture into bite-sized pieces using a knife or cookie cutter. Store properly to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • Ensure the chicken bone broth contains no onions, garlic, or added salt as these ingredients are toxic to dogs.
  • Do not boil the broth to preserve its nutritional benefits.
  • Gelatin must be allowed to bloom properly for smooth texture.
  • Optional ingredients like turmeric and coconut oil provide additional health benefits for dogs.
  • Store gummies in an airtight container in the refrigerator and use within 5-7 days for best freshness.
