Ingredients
Meat Filling
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix, or homemade taco seasoning
Dough & Cheese
- 1 tube Pillsbury Pizza Dough
- 5 colby jack and cheddar cheese sticks, halved
Butter Topping
- 4 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried parsley
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly coat a large baking sheet with non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
- Cook Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it up with a wooden spoon until fully browned and crumbly. Drain any excess fat, then return the skillet to the stove and stir in the taco seasoning packet without adding any water. Mix thoroughly to coat the beef with spices. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
- Prepare Dough: Roll out the tube of pizza dough flat. Cut it lengthwise in half, then make 4 additional cuts widthwise to create 10 equal rectangular pieces.
- Assemble Taco Sticks: Place about a tablespoon or more of the seasoned taco meat in the center of each dough rectangle. Top each with a halved cheese stick. Carefully roll up the dough around the filling, making sure to pinch all seams tightly closed to seal the filling inside.
- Brush with Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with garlic powder and dried parsley. Using a brush, coat the tops of each rolled taco stick with this garlic butter mixture for added flavor and a golden finish.
- Bake: Arrange the assembled cheesy taco sticks on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the dough is cooked through.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve hot with your favorite taco toppings or dipping sauces for an extra burst of flavor.
Notes
- Allow the cooked taco meat to cool before assembling to prevent the dough from becoming soggy.
- You can substitute the cheese sticks with any other cheese sticks or shredded cheese of your choice.
- For added spice, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the seasoned beef.
- These taco sticks can be served with salsa, sour cream, guacamole, or your preferred taco toppings.
- Ensure seams are well sealed to prevent fillings from leaking during baking.
