Ingredients
Chicken Mixture
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
- 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce, divided
- 1/4 cup ranch dressing
- 1 tsp olive oil
Dough and Cheese
- 1 pizza dough, defrosted in refrigerator overnight
- 8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
- 8 oz shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to prepare for baking the buffalo chicken stromboli.
- Prepare Chicken Mixture: In a bowl, toss the cooked chicken with 1/4 cup of buffalo wing sauce. Adjust the amount based on your preferred heat level. Then stir in the ranch dressing along with the remaining 1/4 cup of buffalo sauce until the chicken is evenly coated with the spicy, creamy mixture.
- Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll the pizza dough into a long rectangular shape, suitable to hold the filling and be rolled into a log.
- Assemble Stromboli: Spread the buffalo ranch chicken mixture evenly over the dough. Layer the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses on top to cover the filling.
- Shape Stromboli: Starting from one side, carefully roll the dough into a log, ensuring the filling stays inside. Seal both ends tightly to prevent any filling from oozing out during baking. Place the stromboli seam-side down on a non-stick or greased baking sheet.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheeses are melted and bubbly.
- Rest and Slice: Remove the stromboli from the oven and allow it to rest for 5 to 10 minutes. This resting time helps the filling set, making it easier to slice.
- Serve: Slice into portions and serve warm. Optionally, accompany with pizza sauce, ranch dressing, or blue cheese dressing for dipping.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of buffalo sauce to your preferred spice level for milder or spicier results.
- This dish pairs well with additional dipping sauces such as ranch or blue cheese dressing.
- Resting the stromboli before slicing prevents the filling from spilling out and improves presentation.
- Use freshly shredded cheeses for better melting and flavor.
