Brazilian Lemonade with Coconut is a refreshing and creamy summer beverage combining the tartness of fresh limes with the tropical flavor of coconut and the sweetness of condensed milk. Perfect for cooling down on hot days, this drink offers a unique twist on traditional lemonade by blending whole limes for an extra burst of citrus flavor balanced with a smooth coconut finish.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 2-4 servings

Ingredients

Drink Ingredients

  • 3 cups cold water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 limes, washed
  • 3 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon coconut extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the blender: Pour 3 cups of cold water into the blender, then add 1/2 cup sugar and 1/8 teaspoon coconut extract if using. Add 3 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk to the mixture.
  2. Prepare the limes: Thoroughly wash the limes with soap and water and rinse well. Cut off the ends, then chop each lime into about 18 small pieces.
  3. Blend the ingredients: Add the chopped limes to the blender and blend the mixture for 20 seconds, just enough to combine but not so long as to overblend the bitterness from the pith.
  4. Strain the mixture: Place a fine mesh strainer over a bowl or pitcher and pour the blended mixture through it to remove the pulp and seeds, ensuring a smooth drink.
  5. Serve and adjust sweetness: Pour the strained lemonade into 2-4 glasses served immediately. Add ice as desired. If the lemonade tastes too bitter, stir in more sweetened condensed milk to balance the flavor.

Notes

  • Washing limes properly is important as you blend the whole fruit including the peel.
  • You can adjust the amount of sweetened condensed milk to your sweetness preference.
  • This drink is best enjoyed fresh and served immediately with ice.
  • Use fresh limes for the best flavor; older limes may be more bitter.
  • Coconut extract is optional but adds a nice tropical touch.
