A refreshing and delicious Boba Smoothie featuring the natural sweetness of strawberries and bananas, combined with chewy tapioca pearls and a hint of lime. Perfectly balanced with skim or coconut milk and sweetened with maple syrup and brown sugar syrup for a luscious, creamy texture with a satisfying bite.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 2 large servings or 4 small to medium servings

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 2 cups Frozen strawberries
  • ½ cup Frozen bananas
  • ½ Lime (juice)

Liquid Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups Skim milk or coconut milk
  • 2 tablespoon Maple syrup or more as per taste
  • 2 tablespoon Brown sugar syrup

Boba

  • ⅓ cup Uncooked tapioca pearls

Instructions

  1. Cooking boba: Cook the boba according to the package instructions. For tapioca boba pearls, bring 3 cups of water to a boil. Add ⅓ cup tapioca pearls and boil for 4-5 minutes until they float to the top. Continue cooking at medium heat for another 10 minutes. Turn off heat, cover the pot, and let the pearls soak for 5 minutes. Drain and toss the cooked boba in brown sugar syrup, then set aside.
  2. Making the smoothie: In a blender, combine frozen strawberries, frozen bananas, milk, maple syrup, and a dash of lime juice. Blend until smooth and luscious. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if needed.
  3. Assembling the boba smoothie: In serving glasses, start by adding syrup-dunked tapioca pearls. Pour the strawberry-banana smoothie over the boba. Insert a boba straw and serve immediately. Enjoy the chewy and creamy texture!

Notes

  • Cook the tapioca pearls fresh before assembling the smoothie for best texture and taste.
  • Cooking time for boba may vary based on type; look for them floating to the surface as an indicator.
  • Quick-cooking boba pearls are recommended for convenience.
  • Feel free to substitute fruits based on preference to create your own boba smoothie variations.
  • You can use either maple syrup or brown sugar syrup as the sweetener, or a combination of both.
  • Brown sugar syrup can be made at home as a thick, caramel-like syrup that enhances boba flavor.
  • For a vegan version, substitute milk with any plant-based milk like coconut, almond, or oat milk.
  • Milk quantity can be adjusted to achieve your preferred smoothie thickness.
  • Adding brewed tea can create a boba milk tea smoothie variation.
  • This recipe yields 2 large glasses or 4 small to medium servings.
