Delicious air fryer bananas coated in cinnamon sugar, offering a quick and healthy sweet treat perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert. This easy recipe enhances the natural sweetness of ripe bananas with a warm cinnamon flavor, ready in just minutes using an air fryer.

  • Total Time: 10-13 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

Bananas

  • 2 ripe yet firm bananas

Coating

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Optional

  • Butter, diced into small pieces (optional)

Instructions

  1. Select and cut the banana: Choose ripe but firm bananas. Peel them and slice into elongated rings or cut lengthwise into halves and then thin horizontal slices, depending on your preference.
  2. Coat the cut bananas in cinnamon sugar: Place the banana slices into a bowl. Add the brown sugar and ground cinnamon, and mix gently so each slice is evenly coated with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  3. Cook bananas in the air fryer: Arrange the coated banana slices in the air fryer basket without overcrowding so they are spaced apart. Set the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and cook for about 5 minutes. At the 3-minute mark, carefully flip each banana slice using silicone tongs to ensure even cooking. Once done, gently remove them using a spatula onto a serving plate.
  4. Serve and enjoy: Serve the air-fried bananas warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream, added to granola bowls, or placed on jelly sandwiches or bagels for a delightful treat.

Notes

  • You can add small diced pieces of cold butter on top of each banana slice before air frying for extra richness.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow even air circulation.
  • Flip the banana slices gently halfway through cooking to avoid breaking.
  • Use parchment paper or a silicone mat in the air fryer basket to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  • Riper bananas will cook faster (about 5 minutes); less ripe bananas may require 7-8 minutes.
  • Reheat leftover air-fried bananas in the air fryer at 350°F for 2-3 minutes.
  • Store air-fried bananas in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days.
  • Alternatively, bananas can be cooked in an Instant Pot using the sauté mode, but butter is recommended for that method.
