Ingredients
Crust
- 30 Oreos, crushed
- 5 tablespoons butter, melted
Filling
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- 8 oz Cool Whip
Toppings (optional)
- Reese’s cups
- Reese’s pieces
- Crushed Oreos
- Chocolate, caramel, or peanut butter drizzle
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly coat a pie pan with non-stick spray and set it aside for later use.
- Crush Oreos and Mix with Butter: Using a food processor, pulse the Oreos until finely crushed. Alternatively, you can crush them by hand inside a plastic bag or pulse briefly in a blender. Pour melted butter into the crushed Oreos and stir until all crumbs are uniformly coated.
- Form and Bake the Crust: Press the Oreo mixture evenly into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pie plate, ensuring it’s packed tightly to hold its shape. Bake the crust in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Once done, set the crust on a wire rack to cool completely before filling.
- Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the creamy peanut butter and softened cream cheese together until smooth and well combined. Add the powdered sugar and mix thoroughly. Finally, fold in the Cool Whip gently until the filling is creamy and smooth.
- Assemble the Pie: Once the crust is fully cooled, spread the peanut butter filling evenly into the crust, smoothing the top with a spatula or spoon.
- Add Toppings and Chill: Garnish the pie with Reese’s cups, Reese’s pieces, crushed Oreos, or drizzle with chocolate, caramel, or peanut butter as desired. Refrigerate the pie for at least 5 hours or freeze it for a minimum of 3 hours to set firmly before serving. For the best texture, serve the pie chilled or slightly frozen.
Notes
- Using a food processor greatly simplifies crushing the Oreos and ensures a finer texture for the crust.
- This pie can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or frozen for up to 3 months when tightly wrapped.
- Chilling the pie in the freezer gives it a delicious ice cream-like texture, which is a favorite way to enjoy this dessert.
